Online/Virtual Missouri Historical Society: Transcription & Review
Description: Volunteers will look at old documents, transcribe them, and review the transcriptions. Using their devices, students will log onto the website http://fromthepage.com/mohistory/. They will choose from the collection of historical documents. They will read the documents and fill in the online form, transcribing into the library's database. Also, they may choose to review completed transcriptions for accuracy and quality control.
Comments: Currently the types of documents include House of Refuge records (interesting for students in law, history, and juvenile system); St. Louis City Blocks records (interesting for students of architecture, business, real estate, and history) and transcripts of Patience Worth who was the spirit of a 16th Century puritan girl (interesting for students interested in occult, religion, history, and storytelling).
