Reading time: 1 minute<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n On many Saturday mornings, Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµAPP students can be found volunteering with I-Skate at Creve Coeur Ice Arena. The program, which runs from October through April, serves young people with disabilities who want to improve their ice skating skills.<\/p>\n \u201cË¿¹ÏÊÓÆµAPPvolunteers always have a smile on their faces and are willing to help, and do whatever it takes to make it an enjoyable experience for the athlete,\u201d says John Bauer, organizer of the ice-skating program.<\/p>\n Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµAPP\u2019s Community Service Club sponsors the volunteer opportunity for students.<\/p>\n \u201cThrough this program, students engage with diverse people, and provide volunteer service in a variety of settings. Community service helps students develop in multiple ways, and usually they find out they get more out of the experience than they give,\u201d says Steve DiSalvo, director of campus ministry and community service<\/a>.<\/p>\n Students who participate in the ice-skating program realize community service is important. \u201cEveryone has the opportunity to make a difference, and if everyone served others the world would be a better place,\u201d says senior Christina Gerst.<\/p>\n
