{"id":44,"date":"2012-01-09T11:01:08","date_gmt":"2012-01-09T17:01:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.maryville.edu\/ed\/?page_id=44"},"modified":"2018-12-13T16:37:21","modified_gmt":"2018-12-13T22:37:21","slug":"transfer-and-international-students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/ed\/transfer-and-international-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Transfer and International Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, you started your journey with another institution?\u00a0<em>That&#8217;s okay, we welcome you with open arms! <\/em>Maryville&#8217;s School of Education Welcomes Transfer Students!<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s special about Maryville&#8217;s teacher education program?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fully accepts AAT <\/strong>general education from\u00a0Missouri community colleges without question.<\/li>\n<li><strong>More extensive and intensive school placements <\/strong>than any other university, supervised by Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPPfaculty, providing you many opportunities to see and practice what you learn in class.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strong partnerships <\/strong>with area schools allowing close coordination between what you do in schools and what your professors do in classrooms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Professors <\/strong>with much real-world experience who stay involved in partner schools and <strong>care deeply <\/strong>about your development as teachers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Excellent placement rates <\/strong>in area teaching jobs along with outstanding pass rates on state certification tests.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nationally Accredited <\/strong>program allowing greater transferability to other states.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPP has a national reputation for high quality teacher education programs that take full advantage of partnerships with local schools.<\/p>\n<h2>Program Offerings<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Elementary<\/strong>:\u00a0 Grades 1 &#8211; 6 with Bachelor of Arts in Education<\/li>\n<li><strong>Early Childhood\/Elementary<\/strong>:\u00a0 Birth &#8211; Grade 6 dual certification as B.A. or 5 year combined B.A..\/M.A<\/li>\n<li><strong>Middle\u00a0School<\/strong>:\u00a0 Grades 5-9 in Science, Social Studies, English\/Language Arts or Math<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secondary<\/strong>:\u00a0 Grades 9-12 in Biology\/General Science, Chemistry\/General Science, English, Social Studies or Math.<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in the content area followed by\u00a0one year\u00a0graduate program culminating with a Master of Arts in Education with certification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Admission Requirements<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Cumulative GPA of 2.75 (3.0 graduate candidates) with a 3.0GPA in education courses (&#8220;D&#8221; grades not accepted)<\/li>\n<li>Received passing scores on the required Missouri Educator Gateway Assessments (MEGA).
